Trigger Point Therapy for Muscle Pain Relief
Trigger Point Therapy is a deep tissue modality. The practitioner finds the locations of nodules and knots in the deeper tissues of the muscles with the client’s feedback. The knots and nodules are expressions of contracted, tight tissue that has taken time to develop and represent the residue of past injury and trauma to the body. To release this bound up tightness, firm deep pressure is applied directly upon the nodule with maintained firmness, then released. This process is repeated until the nodule releases. Once the central trigger point of pain is relaxed with isolated pressure and release, there are most often referred satellite trigger points extending some distance from the active trigger point as part of the pattern. Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage chronic pain from injuries.
